Stephen Morris
INTRODUCTION
Stephen is an Associate Professor in Engineering Science and a Tutorial Fellow at Jesus College. He runs the Soft Matter Photonics Research Group with Professor Steve Elston, which conducts research on a wide variety of optoelectronic technologies based upon soft materials such as liquid crystals and polymers. These technologies are targeted for a range of industries including Photonics, Space, Displays, and the Built-environment.
Stephen is currently the Chair of the Oxford Photonics Network Committee and serves on the Space @ Oxford Steering Group. He currently leads the Photonics activities in the recently formed ESA Lab@Oxford and is the Academic Director of the Technology and AI programme that is run by the Department for Continuing Education. In addition to his roles at Oxford, Stephen is also an Associate Editor of the Journal, Optical Materials. He was awarded a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and has previously held a Royal Society University Research Fellowship and an Official Fellowship of St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, where he was the Director of Studies in Physics for Part I.
