Jonathan S. Lim
INTRODUCTION
Jonathan Lim is a DPhil candidate at the School of Archaeology. His research project— “Nuna Nalluituq/The Land Remembers”— makes use of remote sensing alongside ethnoarchaeology to map Native Alaskan cultural landscapes. Specifically, through the analysis of multispectral imagery, his approach seeks to quantify predictable vegetation patterns on archaeological sites and contemporary subsistence areas, like berry picking areas, fishing camps, etc. Working alongside his external supervisor, Dr. Sean Gleason, his ultimate goal is to empower Yup’ik communities in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta with the training and capacity to protect and monitor their landscape heritage. He is a long-standing member of the Quinhagak Archaeological Project, involving the archaeological investigation of the Nunalleq site and the surrounding environs.
